The Hudson School of Mathematics
Linear Algebra
Linear algebra is one of the fundamental courses of mathematics at college level. As other math topics, it reveals the beauty of certain structures emerging from a few basic axioms. Great names of mathematicians associated with the theory of linear algebra include: Gauss, Cayley, Hamilton... to cite only but a few.
Syllabus
The following topics will be studied. Vector, Matrices and Linear Equations. Vector Spaces, Linear Mappings, Composition and Inverse Mappings, Scalar Products and Orthogonality, Determinants, Eigenvectors and Eigenvalue, Bilinear and Quadratic Forms
The lectures will be inspired by the following textbooks:
- Introduction to Linear Algebra by S. Lang, Springer
- Introduction to Linear Algebra by G. Strang, Welleslay Cambridge Press
Prerequisites for registration : approval of the department.
